How We Verify Numbers
- Automatically detected price caps are confirmed by a person before being labelled verified
- Source, period, automated check and human review dates are recorded separately
- Principal figures carry their source and limitations in the public data register
- Automated jobs never invent movement — a figure only changes when a source changes
- Material corrections are logged publicly with the date and reason

Data Sources
We use primary sources we can point to, and say when a figure comes from our own calculation.

- Octopus Energy tariff rates pulled daily from Octopus's public API
- Other suppliers' rates taken from their published rate cards and dated when checked
- Daily monitoring of Ofgem, DESNZ, NESO, Elexon and UK energy trade press for market news
- Government publications including DESNZ energy statistics
Verification Process
Automated checks and human review are kept separate, and dates are shown for each.
- Every automatically detected price cap is confirmed by a person against the Ofgem publication before being labelled verified
- Source date, data period, automated check date and human review date are recorded and shown separately
- An automated job can never mark a figure as human-reviewed or invent movement between readings
- Principal figures are listed in our public data register with source, method and limitations
- Users can flag discrepancies by contacting us, and material corrections are logged publicly

- Annual cost estimates assume Ofgem's Typical Domestic Consumption Values (TDCV)
- Actual bills vary based on your location, usage patterns, and payment method
- We do not receive commissions from any energy supplier — we are fully independent
- Some pages contain affiliate links and ads; where they appear they are labelled, and we may earn a commission
- We do not currently publish forward price predictions, because earlier estimates could not be evidenced
- Regional pricing figures without a documented source are labelled as illustrative, not verified
