Economy 7 tariffs. Storage heaters are built around time-of-use tariffs like Economy 7, which give a cheaper electricity rate for around seven hours overnight and a higher rate during the day.
Overnight charging. The heater draws its electricity during the cheap overnight window, when demand — and price — is lowest.
Heat storage. That energy is stored in dense ceramic bricks inside the heater, then released slowly through the following day to warm the room.
