How the figure is produced
- The cap benchmark household is 2,700 kWh electricity and 11,500 kWh gas on Direct Debit.
- Capped rates multiplied by this consumption reproduce Ofgem's published headline exactly.
- This basis is used only when quoting the headline cap. Calculator defaults use the Typical Domestic Consumption Values instead.

- It is not the same as Ofgem's Typical Domestic Consumption Values, so the two bases produce different annual totals from identical rates.
