How the figure is produced
- Each region's electricity unit rate, electricity standing charge, gas unit rate and gas standing charge are transcribed directly from Ofgem's published Direct Debit tables for each period. Nothing is modelled or interpolated.
- Annualised costs use (kWh × unit rate in pence + 365 × daily standing charge in pence) ÷ 100, with the visitor's own annual usage and the same usage applied to both periods.
- Rates are Ofgem's final capped consumer rates: gas includes 5% VAT, and no VAT applies to electricity from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, so VAT is never added again.

What this figure cannot tell you
- Scope is Direct Debit customers on a standard variable tariff with a single-rate electricity meter. Prepayment, standard credit, fixed tariffs and Economy 7 or other multi-rate tariffs are capped separately and are not shown.
- Because electricity carries no VAT from 1 October 2026, electricity figures for that period cannot be compared directly with earlier periods.
- Postcode-to-region matching works from the postcode area letters, so it is a suggestion the visitor is asked to confirm; a manual region list is always offered.
- The former downloadable regional cost report is withheld because it was built on an earlier, unsourced set of regional figures.
