PowerGuardian Insights

Original research on what UK households actually pay

Each release states its source, the period it covers, the formula behind every figure, and what the figures cannot tell you. Where a question needs data we do not yet hold to a publishable standard, we say so rather than estimate.

    Published research

Research we are not publishing yet

These are frameworks PowerGuardian intends to run repeatedly. Each one is held back for a specific, stated reason — usually that the underlying data is not yet verified, or that the sample is below our 30-record publication threshold. We would rather show an empty slot than a figure we cannot defend.

    • Price Cap Period Comparison

How have capped unit rates and standing charges changed between cap periods?

Not published: Verified prior-period unit rates and standing charges are not yet held in the canonical record.

    • Regional Fixed Cost Gap

How much does the fixed element of a bill differ between UK regions?

Not published: Regional standing charges on site are unverified placeholders. They must be sourced and verification-dated before publication.

    • Supplier Practice Tracker

How do suppliers compare on the practices that cost households money?

Not published: Each contributing input needs re-verification against its dated source for the release period.

    • Household Action Gap

Which money-saving actions do households complete, and which do they leave undone?

Not published: Consenting sample is far below the 30-record publication threshold.

1 of 5 planned frameworks currently meet the publication standard.

    How household data is treated

PowerGuardian research never identifies a household. Where a release uses information from people who use PowerGuardian, it uses only records where the person has actively opted in, in aggregate form, with a minimum of 30 records per published figure and no geographic detail finer than a postcode area. Segments below the threshold are withheld and labelled as withheld, never merged to make a number look larger.
